Marketplace Acceptable Use Policy
Version 0.1 — 2026-07-28
For renters
You may not use rented hardware to:
- Send unsolicited bulk email (spam) or otherwise violate CAN-SPAM / equivalent laws.
- Scan, probe, or otherwise attack hosts you don't have explicit written authorization for.
- Host or distribute malware, illegal content (CSAM, instructions for violent crime, etc.), or content that violates the IP rights of others.
- Run crypto mining workloads unless the listing explicitly allows it. The listing card shows "Crypto OK" if so.
- Run anything that violates the laws of the rental's country (see the country flag on the listing).
For providers
You may not:
- Inspect renter workloads beyond what is reasonably necessary to keep the box running (e.g. reading SMART data is fine;
strace -pon a renter process is not). - Re-sell or sublease your hardware on the marketplace via accounts you don't own.
- Advertise specs that materially differ from what our verification probe finds. Drift > 2GB of RAM or any core count change blocks publishing.
- Hold renter data hostage. At rental end, you must let our cleanup playbook tear down the mp-renter user; you may NOT preserve their home dir.
Reporting abuse
Report abuse to [email protected]. Include the listing or rental ID and any supporting evidence. Critical abuse (CSAM, active attacks, fraud) is investigated within 4 hours; everything else within 2 business days.
Consequences
First-time, low-severity violations get a warning. Repeat or serious violations result in: rental termination (renter is refunded for unused time), listing suspension (provider keeps already-earned payouts), or full marketplace ban.
